OpenAI has highlighted a new real-world test of its latest model, GPT-6 Astra, in a tax preparation workflow. According to the company, the model completed a 50-tab tax workbook in half the time taken by its predecessor, GPT-5.6 Sol.
The comparison centers on a single, concrete task: finishing a large, multi-sheet tax workbook. OpenAI says Astra performed the work twice as fast as GPT-5.6 Sol, a direct speed advantage on a document-heavy, detail-sensitive job.
Beyond raw speed, OpenAI points to a stronger grasp of user intent in GPT-6 Astra. That improvement is said to give Basis, the firm running the workbook task, greater confidence that the model can be relied on in real-world use.
The announcement does not include benchmark scores, pricing, or a release date. It presents the workbook result as an example of how the newer model translates into practical gains for professional users.
