DeepSeek has announced that DeepSeek V4 has reached General Availability (GA) as of July 24, 2026. This milestone marks the official release of the latest version of their AI model, bringing with it several important changes for developers.
Effective immediately, all legacy API aliases have been retired. Developers who have been using older endpoint names must update their integrations to the new V4 endpoints to ensure continued service. DeepSeek has provided a full migration guide to assist with the transition.
In a significant shift, DeepSeek is introducing the API industry's first structural peak/off-peak surge pricing model, based on UTC+8 time zones. During peak hours, API usage will incur higher costs, while off-peak usage will benefit from lower rates. This pricing structure aims to manage demand and optimize infrastructure utilization.
Developers are encouraged to review the migration guide and adjust their usage patterns to take advantage of off-peak pricing. The changes are effective immediately, and legacy aliases will no longer function.
