Anthropic has launched the Anthropic Economic Index connector for Claude, a new tool that lets anyone explore data from the company's economic index directly through conversational queries. The index measures how AI is actually being used in the economy, providing insights for researchers, journalists, and policymakers.
With the connector, users can ask Claude questions such as: "Which occupations use AI the most?" "What are the most common ways people in Colorado use Claude?" "What sorts of tasks do teachers use Claude for?" and "What kinds of tasks are people automating with AI? How has that changed over the past year?" Answers are grounded directly in the index data.
To get started, users open the connectors menu in claude.ai, find the Anthropic Economic Index in the directory, and enable it. It works in any conversation with any Claude model, with no installation required. Users can start with broad questions and drill into specifics, and Claude can show the underlying data behind any answer.
The index reflects patterns in Claude usage rather than the labor market as a whole, and Claude will point users back to the source data and its limitations. The connector is available today in claude.ai, and the full datasets remain freely available on Anthropic's website.
